In this ever­challenging decade of the 21st century, it is important that today’s children are educated to be well prepared in facing the world new challenges, an era of no boundaries where the competition is global. LIS aims to develop modern thinkers in a 21st century learning environment where cultural understanding, communication, critical thinking, information literacy, arts appreciation and environmental responsibilities play important roles. LIS aspires to educate and nurture our future generation to be well developed in their MIND, BODY and SOUL which fits the ideals of A Scholar, A Sportsman and A Gentleman.

Entry into the School is through competitive entrance examinations. From the moment a student is accepted into the School, he/she is initiated into the culture of academic rigour and discipline. Standards are high and competition is keen. Schools record in National Public Examinations ever since its inception in August 2007 has  been impeccable : 100% passes each year in all examinations – the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) at Primary School and both the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) at Secondary School. The School aims as one of the top schools in these examinations and grow to outdo other schools in Malaysia especially in Labuan.

As soon as a student becomes a student in LIS, he/she is allocated a School Sports House to which he/she belongs throughout his/her school career. The first thing he/she will notice is that the fierce competitive spirit in the classroom spills into the field. House spirit is evident throughout the year as the main co-curricular events are all house-based, but the time where it is strongest is during the Annual Games Carnival week and Annual Sports Day where it culminates in the March Past, Cheerleading and House Decoration competitions. The houses are entirely run by LIS students with very little intervention, if any, from the teachers. It is during this time that creativity, organisational skills and ability to work in teams are tested and the results are put in full display. The atmosphere is festive and tension-filled, but always highly enjoyable. 

LIS students also participate in inter-school competitions – soccer, netball, badminton, table-tennis and tennis to name a few. LIS is always among the top schools at swimming in Wilayah Persekutuan for both the Primary School and Secondary School teams.

A sense of consideration and respect for others completes the nature of being a member in LIS.
