Labuan, 21 September 2017. Nineteen students will bid farewell to Labuan International School this year. They will be sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and IGCSE this coming November. Students were given a written recommendation affirming their character and their academic, as well as non-academic performance at LIS Testimonial Day on last Friday.

Mirza Nur Sabrina bt Mohd Rizlan was selected as valedictorian to represent the graduates to express their gratitude to teachers and parents. It was a heartwarming moment when the graduates presented a short video clip of the moments the class of 2016/2017 shared together growing in LIS. The teachers were very touched when they were acknowledged by the graduates in their presentation. The highlight of the ceremony was during the finale when the graduates sung a farewell song entitled “Friendship”.

“I would like to thank all my teachers for their guidance and lessons throughout my 14 years of schooling. I hope my friends and I can pass our exams with flying colours and make our teachers and parents proud of us,” Muhammad Amirul Luqman bin Jaffree, Form 5

“To my parents, thank you for sending me to LIS as not only have i met new people, I have also gained brothers and sisters,” Esther Khiew Mei Fung, Year 11.

“I would like to thank my parents for giving me their full support. I am so appreciative of them giving me the opportunity to study at LIS, where I have learnt so much in preparation for my future. To all the teachers, from those who have disciplined us to those who have inspired and pumped us up with motivation, I say thank you,” Len Bao Er, Year 11.

The Principal of Labuan International School, Puan Zainab Batin was very pleased that the class of 2016/2017 have been an amazing group of students who are talented too. Every student in this batch obtained 100% straight A for Malay as Foreign Language and Puan Zainab hopes that the IGCSE and SPM results will also be of the strongest performance in the last 5 years.

“I am delighted with the high quality support that we have. The teachers are dedicated and hardworking, devoted to helping and nurturing the students,” said Puan Zainab. She urged the graduates to always put their energy, focus, faith, talent and time in building the foundation of their future and wished them success in achieving all that they are destined to be.
